The FDA requires the use of beard covers, just as they require the use of hairnets. The Food Code promulgated by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2013 stipulates that food practitioners must wear "hats, hair covers or nets, beard covers, and clothing that covers body hair" when working. Medical institutions may require a beard cover, but the FDA or other authorities do not require it. The only industries that require the use of beard covers are food processing facilities that fall under the jurisdiction of the FDA's 2013 Food Regulations.
